                 The Gideon Battalion

A Battalion normally numbers 700 and according to the Holy Scriptures, Gideon’s Army was reduced a step at a time, under the commands of Almighty God.  Therefore in today’s world Gideon’s 300 would be roughly a company and a half!  However, the issue is that 300 Confederates in our time could defeat an enemy 100, 1000 or 10000 times their numbers, if they are in the will of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Should those of us who believe in and advocate the Confederate Cause, humble themselves before Him in prayer and seek His Divine intervention, we will see miracles.
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land."  {IIChronicles 7:14}.
"And the hand of the Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianities the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.  And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them; And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for the Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.  For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number; and they entered into the land to destroy it." (Judges 6:2-5).
"Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead.  And they’re returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.  And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people are yet to many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.
So he brought down the people unto the water and the Lord said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shall thou set by himself; likewise every one that bowed down upon his knees to drink.  And the number them that lappets, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink.  And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place."  (Judges 7:3-7).
After having read these scriptural verses, and considering their meaning, as applied to our time and circumstance, it appeared to me, our Lord was speaking of those who would steadfastly follow His will and purpose.  Then it came to me, that should we in modern times actually go about creating a Confederate Legion Gideon Battalion after the example described in these verses?  Such a battalion could quite literally awe and inspire people, and very would turn the tide in our favor.  The structure of a modern Gideon Battalion began to take shape in my mind; even its banner became clear to me.
This battalion flag would be blue like unto the Bonnie Blue Flag!  It would have a white Christian Cross with seven stars position like a rainbow above the cross.  The cross shall be the symbols of our faith, and the stars shall be like unto a signet that the Almighty God will go out before us into battle.  Additionally the Confederate Legion Gideon Battalion membership must be selected from the few rather then the many, those who possess the heart and spirit of a Gideon Warrior.
Thus I am presenting to you, a concept heretofore unknown in modern times, the formation of a Battalion of Troops of limited size, which shall be known as "The Gideon Battalion."  We know our Lord, would not have anyone who is afraid to serve, or who lacks courage and determination, in the face of adversity.   There are those that are slack in carrying out their duties, who will not be loyal, being interested solely in vainglory, lacking in diligence, determination and principle.
On the other hand there are those among us who are not of us, believing solely in 'history, heritage and culture only' while leave out our nationhoodThese should not consider joining!  Those not prepared to give their full measure of devotion for the cause of liberating the Confederate States of America from occupation; subjugation and cultural cleansing, should not consider joining.
In like manner he who feels it inappropriate to march under the Christian Cross, or who may be critical of the concept; these should not join!  It is indeed possible to create a military command titled the Gideon Battalion, if the faint of heart and the coy are not permitted among its ranks, but only the bold, those that will stay the course and stand in the shoes of our forefathers, while looking to the future.
This battalion would not be organized as a coalition of compromisers, but would be hard corps, standing upon those founding principles, for which our forefather fought, suffered, bled and died in agony.  Their mission and purpose must be the independence of the Confederate States of America, and its rebirth as a God Fearing Nation.  Therefore, if you have even the slightest hesitation, do not join!
If you have any motive, other then what has been proclaimed as our mission and purpose; then again, do not join.  If you are 'AMERICAN BY BIRTH, AND SOUTHERN BY THE GRACE OF GOD' then do not join, for this is merely a cliché.  We are rather the 'CHILDREN OF THE LIVING GOD BY THE NEW BIRTH, AND CONFEDERATE STATES NATIONALIST AND PATRIOTS BY THE GRACE OF GOD' and that is not a cliché.
The Gideon Battalion would not march in order to reinforce paganism in a free-for-all society, but in behalf of the reestablishment of the Almighty God, the Holy Scriptures and Prayer as the road map, as the founding guide of a nation, which will become a light unto a heathen world.  If these issues puzzle you, then stop reading now and let this suggestion pass.
What is envisioned here does not come from the mind of a prophet or seer, but merely the servant of the 'One True God' while I go about my duties in His service?  If this troubles you, then again stop reading now!  The Gideon Battalion will do whatever must be done in order to fulfill our mission and if this troubles you, once more, I say stop reading!  My prayers are that were such a battalion actually organized, only those who are true to the Living God should be permitted to participate.
The Gideon Battalion would be by definition an elite corps, the chosen few, just as they were in the time of Gideon in the Holy Scriptures.  Most people would never consider such an idea as The Gideon Battalion, but if actually created in such a manner as to truly earn its name, the results would be awe-inspiring.  It would be a blessing and a centerpiece of our modern day Confederate Cause; this would be a concept well worth taking seriously.
Our modern day Gideonites will be known as a Battalion, while realizing that Gideon’s Army numbered 300 members, and a company numbers 175, so the Gideonites stood somewhere in between in their numbers.  And like Gideon of old, we are speaking here of only 300 members, no more and certainly no less!
Therefore we shall pick and choose, just as did Gideon, until we achieve 300 in number, which must be the best of the best, the chosen few who will stand in our time, just as boldly as did Gideon’s 300 in ancient times.  In this way, we will know that it is the Almighty God, in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior who will have delivered our nation, out of the hands of our occupation forces.
The ancient Hebrew were not delivered out of bondage in Egypt by their own power, thus we as Confederate will not see our nation, the Confederate States of America, delivered out of occupation by our own power.
Knowing the Confederate Legion has found it so difficult to recruit and retain members or to keep them loyal and on course, mankind’s natural reaction in our situation would be to lower the standard.  However we will not permit such a compromise in this case!
We shall instead raise the standard, as illustrated in the above verses, which tell the story of Gideon’s 300, thereby ours will be made up of the few not the many, the best, not the mediocre.  Those who will be God's Confederate Legion Gideonites!
Where we have failed in our effort, we shall now relinquish the ultimate Command of the Confederate Legion to the Almighty God Himself, in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
Let us pray diligently, humble ourselves before Him and seek His face that we might be found worthy of His Divine Grace and Mercy.
