There were many comments made by foreign dignitaries regarding the legitimacy of the Confederate States of America and its cause, among these was William E. Gladstone British Prime Minister 1868-1894, and prominent politician from 1809-1898.  "Jefferson Davis and other leaders of the South have made an army; they are making, it appears, a navy; and they have made what is more than either, they have made a nation.  We may anticipate with certainty the success of the Southern States so far as regards their separation from the North."  We still intend on carrying out the Prime Minister Gladstone’s words regarding the separation!

“Those who claim to be Confederate or Southern while being unwilling to take a stand in behalf of all things Confederate and Southern, are neither Confederate nor Southern!  They are like unto the man who passes by and observes the hungry, thirsty and needy.  While pausing to express great flowering words of sympathy and comfort they continue on their way, allowing them to suffer and face a likely death.  They are great and noble in speech, but slow in turning their words into deeds!  These are they who mouth great and patriotic word while being not unlike a traitor to the cause, by refusing to put those same words into action in support of their own history, heritage, culture and nation, the Confederate States of America.” --- Alexander Trimble

How many among our numbers truly want Confederate States liberation and independence?   Hopefully everyone, but be that as it may there is a cost, which must and will be paid or else our nation will remain under occupation, eventually fading into extinction.  Our liberation will not come cheap; quite realistically, it will become the most costly course of action we will ever pursue.  Victory is for those with the persistence and fortitude to resist the temptation to withdraw or whose resolve has been tempered, when conditions worsen and the cost rises.  Victory is not for the weak of hearted, nor those who are softened by the ease and comfort of a gilded cage, provided by the enemy at the cost of liberty.  It is for those who continue to fight the good fight, even after others who have gone before, having faced overwhelming numbers and firepower, found they were unable to complete the mission.

The modern rebirth of the Confederate Cause launched in 1990, has slowly gained some measure of strength, but the road is hard and the journey long.  Those of us who were founding members, naturally had great hope that things would move along at a more rapid pace then as proven the case, and by this time we would number in the millions, but this has not happened.  However we have reached the end of one phase and the beginning of another.  The mass media has not to date covered the growth and expansion of the Confederate Cause, this is to be expected, however we must change our tactics as well as their attitude.

The media has scarcely touched on the topic of the Confederate Cause, so the ball is now in our court and it is for us to make the decisive move.  I am convinced the Confederate Legion will be the instrument through which victory will be achieved.  Some may choose to believe I am asking for the impossible, but the rebirth of the Confederate Cause 125 years after the Surrender at Appomattox, a span of time wherein most causes would have become extinct, would clearly prove otherwise; if each of you who read this article will join with us, it can be made to happen.

Therefore I am asking for your prayers toward Almighty God in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior, that the Confederate Legion, will be made to grow to not less then 3,000,000 members.  Further that these loyal Legionnaires will become a professional Confederate Military Ceremonial Honor Guard, in the truest sense of the word.  We need Legionnaires who can march as if they are a single individual, having discipline and military decorum.  I’d like to share my long-term vision, whereby there will be long columns of ‘Men in Gray’ in pass a series of pass and review parades.

I see sharp, professional troops so numerous and with such procession, their numbers will seemingly stretch to the horizons and the sound of their boots clicking on the pavement in unison will literally sound like rolling claps of thunder.  In my minds eye I see them wearing uniforms which are so spectacular, they will make any uniform possessed by our occupation forces seem third rate by comparison.  This can’t happen you might say; “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” {Matthew 19:26}.

If we pray truly believe in the Confederate Cause, pray fervently and quite literally do all that is within our power, God will hear our prayer and answer.  It would be logical to ask; how could we possibly raise the enormous amounts of money necessary to uniform and field a Confederate Legion, which numbers in the six or seven digits?  Let us take first things first; if we can recruit, train and place in pass and review, let us say 100,000 thousand, afterward increase that number.  Further suppose we could uniform these early legionnaires in a military combat style uniform, having confederate markings and accoutrements, with black shoes, certainly this would be an excellent beginning.

Then march that many troops through one of our major cities on a date which would have the best effect, at a time when the opportunity is greatest for attracting large crowds, as well as the mass media.  We would then use the opportunity, the publicity provides, to reach out and attract million more into the Confederate Legion as well as to gain-needed sponsors.  However whatever is required to achieve the desired results, I want those 3,000,000 loyal Legionnaires, not for my own sake as much as it would surely please me, but rather for the sake of future generations yet unborn.

I have many times before made the comment; that we must field such numbers in a single spectacular pass and review parade, it would constitute the greatest spectacle in history.  Train, discipline and uniform these troops to be sharper and more professional then anything yet seen in any parade!  Under these circumstances I will in effect roll back the surrender of our Confederate Armies, thereby altering the course of history.  Such a parade would represent beyond any doubt, an enormus display of power, howbeit in the political cultural power.  Help make this happen, as difficult as it may be, and together we will witness a liberated and independent Confederacy, along with the inaugurating the Second President, Confederate States of America.

Let me make a statement to clarity and confirm my purpose in founding the Confederate Legion; I want those 3,000,000 Men in Gray.  I want them developed into a top professional Confederate Military Ceremonial Honor Guard, second to none.  Whatever it takes; give me these legionnaires!   My intention is nothing less then to create an awe and a spectacle, unmatched in all of history.  Seriously consider for a moment that would happen if we actually had such Legionnaires, and paraded them though any major city, you name the city.

Can any of our people even begin to imagine the response of the people, the bureaucracy, let alone the mass media?  Additionally, if we are to attain the lofty goals depicted in this article, we must also build an organization strong enough to contain such a massive number of Legionnaires.  We cannot hope to achieve organizational discipline, without allowing for a little time and a lot of effort on the part of everyone involved.  None-the-less the day must come in the not to distant future, wherein every Legionnaire and every command, will be loyal and answer to the chain of command.

The Confederate Legion must at this time pass beyond its initial founding stage, and become a mature organization, with every member living up to the principles as laid down in the Pledge of Honor as well as the Proclamation of Independence.  Imagine if these Legionnaires were even now truly professional, disciplined, uniformed and equipped; such a spectacle beyond any doubt would be witnessed by billions of people around the world, as the story was relayed by satellites.  Why?  Just consider how long it would take to march 1,000,000 troops past a given point; the spectacle would be awe-inspiring.

The world will come to know of a certainty, the Confederate States of America has truly returned and is arising from the flames and ashes of that horrible war.  Log onboard our website, URL posted below the signature line, join and participate actively and devoutly in the Confederate Legion.  Your participation or lack thereof, will determine if we will prove victorious!  Let us stop complaining about what our occupation forces are doing to us, and take the future into our own hands.
